Barom Bhicharnchitr is a globetrotter with an unstoppable enthusiasm for design, and his most current project unequivocally showcases that side of him. His most far-reaching project so far, Siwilai, offers an outstanding retail experience in Bangkok.
The interior designers working on Siwilai were Yabu Pushelberg, one of the most renowned Interior design companies in the world. The needs of the clients included designing an interior shopping space in the heart of Thailand that counters the traditional Thai shopping experience. The spaces involved in the project included the shopping space surrounding a central event and exhibition space to act as a pivot for the whole establishment.
The space has a housing print media and vinyl library, a beauty lab, a toys and gadgets section, and a local products department which included a comprehensive collection of unisex fashion and lifestyle brands in the thriving capital. It also has a modern-day marketplace with a whirlpool of cultures and experiences as described by Barom.
Yabu Pushelberg together with a well skilled floor team ensured that the floor as well as pop-up installations were uniquely done to express the quality of the retail concepts in display at every section of the shop. To continually inspire the feeling of expectations while retaining the right amount of suspense, the designers showcased the merchandise surrounding the central space within niches and intimate corners. The outcome helped retain the sense of discovery through the entire area.
Each detail in the shop was considered to the tiniest bit to reinforce the aspirations and beliefs of the brand. The designers ambitions of presenting the store's items as well curated and purposeful married well into the characteristic traditional Thai craftsmanship and the modern Bangkok.
The store is located on the top floor of the newly opened Central Embassy complex. The 826-square-meter space comes with an outdoor terrace and its own restaurant. Yabu Pushelberg ensured that the interior and exterior bits of the restaurant built off a cohesion of modern and traditional motifs on the modern and vintage minimalist furniture.
